For Tom is a mellow and reflective jazz chart in 3/4 time written for my twin brother. It features a clarinet/trumpet duet and a soli for the rhythm section, and the horn sections each get moments to shine as well. The chart's exciting climax comes after a long buildup of energy that is suddenly dispersed with a return to the opening material. Horn parts are not technically difficult, although the highest note for both lead trumpet and lead trombone is a concert C#.
