Raised in Hong Kong, composer Chin Ting (Patrick) Chan is a co-founder of Melos Music. His works have been performed at the Darmstadt State Theater in Germany, Zeigeist's Tuesday Salon, GAMMA-UT conference, Electronic Music Midwest, Electroacoustic Barn Dance, FEASt Festival, as well as Annual New Music Festivals at BGSU and CSUF among others, by artists/groups such as Zeitgeist, Priamos Quartet, Bel Cuore Quartet, Color Field Ensemble, Nonsemble 6 and UNLV Brass Ensemble. Future engagements include the Wan Chai Elizabeth Stadium in Hong Kong, Connecticut College's Arts and Technology symposium, UAHuntsville New Music Festival and more. Mr. Chan's honors/awards include the Soli fan tutti Composition Prize 2010 (finalist), BGSU's Competition in Music Composition (winner) and UMKC Conservatory's Chamber Music Composition Competition (finalist). Grants have come from the American Composers Forum, Mid-American Center for Contemporary Music, Pro Musica and more. His Caprice for String Quartet is produced and published at Darling Records (Cologne).
Mr. Chan received his M.M. and B.M. degrees from Bowling Green State University and San José State University. He is currently pursuing a D.M.A. in composition at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. His mentors include Zhou Long, Chen Yi, Marilyn Shrude, Burton Beerman, Andrea Reinkemeyer, Brian Belet and Pablo Furman.
