Chin Ting Chan, Patrick (b. 1986) is a composer of concert music. Born in Guangzhou, China, he resided in Hong Kong since 1989 and went abroad to Bensalem, PA as a foreign exchange student in 2003-04. Patrick subsequently studied composition with Dr. Paul Davies at Foothill College, CA. In 2006, he decided to pursue his Bachelor of Music degree at San José State University studying composition with Dr. Brian Belet and Dr. Pablo Furman. Since then, Patrick has been a Music Systems/Theory Tutor in the School of Music & Dance. He was awarded the Dean's Scholar from the College of Humanities and the Arts in 2008 and 2009.

Patrick has written music for most standard instruments. His compositions range from instrumental solo to duet, trio, quartet, quintet and large orchestral work. Also interested in film scoring, Patrick was in charge of the Orchestration and Synthesizer Programming in the feature length film - " Bye-Bye Bin Laden " in 2007-08. His most recent compositional endeavors include a duet for Clarinet and piano and a piano concerto.

Being a piano student of Dr. Gwendolyn Mok in 2006-08, Patrick has since performed in numerous concerts as solo and chamber pianist in addition to his regular performances with San José State University Symphony Orchestra as violinist. Patrick also enjoys conducting as well as teaching privately. He possesses an endless enthusiasm about cultivating musical minds of the next generations. Outside of music, Patrick has interest in a different kind of composing called photography.
