Amorphous Recitations by Jason Thorpe Buchanan was composed during the spring semester of 2006, and is a single movement work for string quartet. The reoccurring theme is shifted chromatically and reshaped throughout the composition, accompanied by a contrasting theme made up of quartal and quintal harmonies. The music is not intended to be "programmatic," but rather to be interpreted by the mind of the listener, where it may take whatever form is envisioned.
