In the Fall of 2007 I set out to write a small piece for choir and I decided on this short poem. I was drawn to these words for several reasons: the juxtaposition of hope along with the grief of uncertainty, the infinite potential of the universe, it's humbling size and overwhelming totality, etc. I found that although only a few lines long, it had great musical potential. My attempt was to capture both the beauty and color of space along with it's bleak and cold indifference.
